STILL BURNING AS BRIGHTLY AS EVER

Amnesty International Aotearoa New Zealand formed in 1965.

A 25th is a silver anniversary, a 50th is a gold anniversary and a 60th is a diamond anniversary.

We know that like diamonds, human rights are forever. And like diamonds, human rights have been forged under pressure. Our wins are hard fought for – and all the more precious for it. We’ve been there in the darkest days and we’ve been there celebrating amazing wins. Sometimes they're quick and sometimes they're decades in the making.

For the past 60 years, Amnesty International Aotearoa New Zealand has been protecting and promoting human rights, pushing back against the world’s bullies and building a community of advocates who stand with humanity. Together we are powerful.

What kind of world would you want for your tamariki? This year, what do you wish for Aotearoa New Zealand and beyond?

Push past your fear about the state of the world, take a deep breath and with aroha in your heart, tell us about your aspirations for humankind in 2025.

Stand with us by answering a single question below: What's your vision for humanity?

We're going to share these hopes (just your words and your first name, no other identifying info) online, plus we're working on some exciting colabs where we hope to get them out in more public places.

Girl holding candle

In honour of Amnesty International Aotearoa New Zealand's diamond birthday, are you able to consider a major gift of $5,000 or over, becoming a transformational force for good? If so, you will become an Amnesty Candle – a powerful light shining in the darkness. A ray of hope.

There are already 20 Amnesty Candle donors who give $5,000 or over annually.
