This is an opportunity for dynamic Executive Director to take the NZ helm of one of the most respected human rights organisations in the world.
The Role
As our next Executive Director, you will lead us into the future, driving the delivery of our Strategy 2030 and championing human rights across the nation as well as through our global movement. You’ll inspire a passionate team of staff, advocates/activists, and thousands of supporters, while making your mark as the key spokesperson for human rights in Aotearoa New Zealand. From media interviews to government meetings, your voice will be heard. You will work across all our key areas including fundraising, movement building, advocacy, partnership building, campaigns as well as the general management of a small NGO.
A big focus of Strategy 2030 is building and strengthening people power in Aotearoa New Zealand. You’re a visionary senior leader with experience in social justice, human rights or advocacy. You possess the strategic acumen to make bold decisions to deliver on Strategy 2030, and the heart to inspire those around you. You know how to navigate the complexities of a not-for-profit organisation and have the financial and fundraising savvy to ensure sustainability. Most importantly, you live and breathe human rights, with a passion to make the world a fairer, more just place.
What You’ll Bring:

- A passion for human rights – you understand the power of a movement and want to be at the forefront of real, meaningful change.
- Te Ao Māori commitment – you ’re committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and either bring experience or a deep willingness to learn and engage with tangata whenua.
- A bold voice - you’re not afraid to speak out and represent Amnesty International in the media, government, and public forums.
This is a chance to lead a movement that fights for human rights every single day. You’ll be shaping the future of an iconic organisation, while standing up for what matters most – fairness, justice, and equality.
