Around the world, we are increasingly witnessing the rising spread of authoritarian practices, policies and laws. A steady process of ignoring and eroding essential human rights, undermining access to fairness, justice, dignity and inclusion for all. The very pillars of humanity.
No country is immune, not even Aotearoa, from these sinister practices.
To protect our collective right to a thriving, healthy society where human rights are central, we’ve taken the decision to publicly mobilise the power of our community.
From 13 October, Amnesty International Aotearoa New Zealand is running a campaign on billboards and radio, supported online and through social media.
Our message highlights how these authoritarian practices deny people their rights, their dignity, and in some cases their homes and lives. And we pose a powerful question…
Of course, you know the answer. But the forces of disinformation and bias are strong. So we’re taking the lead in bringing people together to stand up for human rights here, and across the world.
