Join a local Amnesty International community group
We are a global movement of individuals who protect human dignity and defend human rights. Today, more than 10 million people in over 150 countries and territories are helping to build societies based on aroha, justice and equality. Our kaupapa – the values, principles and plans that make up our foundation for action – comes from an unshakable commitment to a world where human rights are enjoyed by all.
Join our movement and work alongside other like-minded people to protect human rights and change people’s lives for the better. Here in Aotearoa New Zealand, local groups of Amnesty supporters have formed to take on dedicated campaigning together.
There are Amnesty International groups to suit just about everyone – secondary and tertiary students, young professionals, people who want to write letters to help free individuals at risk, city or regional geographic groups and a human rights book club.
To achieve human rights wins, it takes committed people who take action on a regular basis. These Amnesty groups are vital to the success of our priority campaigns. So if you’re up for some online advocacy, organising events, lobbying politicians, writing letters and mobilising support for human rights, get amongst it and join a community group!
