Sara Hay, Treasurer

Sara is an authentic leader and skilled Chief Financial Officer with 19 years’ experience in both the public and private sectors.

As Chief Financial Officer at Wellington City Council Sara is responsible for the financial performance and sustainability of the organisation. WCC has an AA+ credit rating, $575m annual revenue, $570m annual expenses and a $300m capital programme. The Council has $8.8b of assets and $1.1b in liabilities. Sara is proud to serve Wellington City through its’ goal to be an inclusive, sustainable and creative capital city for people to live, work and play. Sara is currently on the management board of Let’s Get Wellington Moving – a $7.2b urban development and transport transformative programme aiming to move more people with fewer vehicles and creating; a great harbour city accessible to all; attractive places; shared streets; and efficient local and regional journeys.

Sara also sits on the Advisory Board for Te Herenga Waka Victoria University School of Accounting and Commercial Law which advises both the School and the Centre for Accounting, Governance, and Taxation Research.
