We strongly oppose the Conservation Amendment Bill.

Given the scale of changes proposed, we urge the Environment Committee to recommend that it not proceed. The Bill weakens protections for public conservation land, elevates economic development over conservation, and undermines Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the rights of tangata whenua.
