Amnesty Submission to the Justice Committee on the Arms (Firearms Prohibition Orders) Amendment Bill
This submission is made on behalf of Amnesty International Aotearoa New Zealand (AIANZ) to provide a human rights lens on the Arms (Firearms Prohibition Orders) Amendment Bill (No 2) 2020 [hereafter “the Amendment Bill”], which seeks to amend the Arms Act 1983.
Amnesty International is a global movement of over 10 million people who protect human dignity and defend human rights. In Aotearoa New Zealand, there are approximately 40,000 members and we work on a wide range of human rights issues of both national and international significance.
