Last year, Gaza was declared the deadliest place on earth to be a tamariki. And it’s only become more dangerous with the famine just announced there.
That's why we've joined Save the Children for Let Children Live – a global campaign to protect Palestinian children and end the Israeli authorities’ unlawful occupation of the Palestinian territory.
The campaign aims to lift the names of the 2.38 million Palestinian tamariki living under blockade and Israel’s unlawful occupation, and demand the world uphold its duty to protect their future.
We choose to name the living, just as we have been naming and honoring the dead. One name. One taitamaiti (child). A right to life and a future.
At LetChildrenLive.com you can register and be assigned the first name and age of a living Palestinian taitamaiti – perhaps Samira (9), Omar (6), Leen (12), George (14), Nadine (3). This name becomes your responsibility. Your task is to share it with the world – digitally, in the streets, in your local community. Make sure the name is seen. Make sure the right to life for the taitamaiti is heard. Not just the right to survive, but to live in safety and freedom.
The goal is to assign all 2.3 million names. To achieve this, we need you on board!

A key moment of the campaign will be a global mobilisation on September 13 – the last Saturday before September 18, the deadline set by the UN General Assembly for Israel to end the occupation of the Palestinian territory. On that day, we want people all over the world to take to the streets, each with the name of a Palestinian taitamaiti in hand. Each poster is a life.
For those of you living in Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland, we’ll be taking these tamariki with us when we March the Bridge, from 9.30am on Saturday, September 13 as we join our Palestinian and tangata whenua whānau in demanding our government sanction Israel NOW.
If you are free to join us, please download the name of your taitamaiti here Let Children Live and bring it with you. Please also email us info@amnesty.org.nz that you plan to attend and we'll let you know where you can find the Amnesty International contingent. We'll be on site from 8.45am, with a briefing from 9am.
